Documentary Wedding Photography and Portrait Photographer from Lancashire and Manchester
I am Ernie Melling a Professional Wedding and Portrait Photographer from Lancashire. I have a love and passion for wedding and portrait photography and have been providing reportage wedding photography and location and studio photography to couples across the North West of England for over 15 years.
"My style is a blend of contemporary wedding photography fused with photojournalism with just a hint of fashion. I use my years of experience to provide a custom package that provides all my couples with a blend of styles that suits their plans for their most special of days"
I am known for my totally passionate approach to weddings and I believe I truly have the edge when it comes to capturing the mood and emotion of your wedding and presenting an immaculate and highly artistic set of images.
"My goal as a wedding photojournalist is to take pictures whilst people are not aware they are being photographed. By blending with the crowd I am able to capture the action as it unfolds - the true emotions, the real expressions, the happiness and joy. Instead of the traditional formal portraits and posed candids, this approach produces a more intimate, artistic take on a wedding"
It is my role to make people look good whilst they are mostly unaware that I am shooting them and I do this by conducting myself quietly and paying particular attention to composition and timing as I photograph.
What is happens on the day?
On the day of wedding or civil partnership I generally arrive about an hour and a half before you leave your home or hotel to get married and after a brief introduction start quietly shooting. I spend the rest of the day ‘tagging along’ with you or your guests, following the day and the action in whatever form that takes. I shoot discreetly through your ceremony and reception, without using flash and generally take a break at the time when you sit down to eat — I don’t like to shoot people while they are actually eating so this is perfect. I grab myself a bite to eat, recharge my batteries and am soon fired up and ready to to go again.
Of course I shoot the speeches and the general reportage that surrounds the reception — old friends seeing one another after years, people having fun, children playing, small nuances of behaviour that add colour to the day.
I photograph your cake cutting and your first dance if that is how you have planned your day. I stick around a little longer whilst your friends and family show what they can do on the dance floor and once I am happy that I have covered all the major elements of the story, I go home.
The next step?
Please feel free to call or email me so we can have an informal chat about your needs and the plans for your day. After that we can either meet or work things out on the phone. Ultimately, if you choose to hire me, I will send you a booking form in which I ask you to outline your day. Once you have sent me a £350 deposit, your date is secured.
